Storage Analysis: The Read-Only Mount

MediumStorage & LVM10-15 min
The brief

One filesystem keeps coming up read-only and nobody knows why. Its definition is in /etc/fstab — which mounts differ per session. Find the mount point whose options force it to mount read-only, and record its path (e.g. /srv/archive) to /root/answers/mount_opt.txt.

Read the options field as a comma-separated list. errors=remount-ro is not read-only at mount time — it only remounts read-only if the filesystem hits an error — and an option merely containing ro isn't the ro option.

What you'll do
  • Record the mount point whose options force read-only to /root/answers/mount_opt.txt

Hands-on lab: you work on a real Linux box in your browser, graded on the machine's actual state.
