LVM Snapshot
HardStorage & LVM20-30 minThe brief
Before a risky migration you need a consistent, point-in-time copy of the database volume vgdb/data (ext4, mounted at /var/lib/appdb) so it can be backed up or rolled back without stopping the service. Create an LVM copy-on-write snapshot of that logical volume named data_snap, and leave it in place. Grading checks that a snapshot named data_snap exists and that its origin is the data volume.
What you'll do
- Understand what an LVM copy-on-write snapshot captures
- Create a snapshot logical volume of vgdb/data named data_snap
- Leave the snapshot in place so it can be mounted read-only and backed up
Hands-on lab: you work on a real Linux box in your browser, graded on the machine's actual state.
