Persistent Filesystem Mount

MediumStorage & LVM15-25 min
The brief

The storage team is provisioning a data volume for this host, labelled so it can be referenced without depending on a device name that might change. Your job is to make the mount persistent. Read /root/case/assignment.env for the mount point (MOUNT_POINT), the filesystem label the volume will carry (FS_LABEL), and its filesystem type (FS_TYPE). Create the mount-point directory and add a durable /etc/fstab entry that mounts the labelled volume there at boot. Grading reads the durable artifacts — the directory and the fstab entry — which is what a reboot (or 'mount -a') would act on.

What you'll do
  • Create the mount-point directory
  • Add an /etc/fstab entry referencing the volume by LABEL
  • Use the assigned filesystem type

Hands-on lab: you work on a real Linux box in your browser, graded on the machine's actual state.
