Maintenance Window: Announce It and Block Logins

A maintenance window is coming — tell users and keep them off the box while it runs. Your assignment is in /root/case/assignment.env (MAINT_WINDOW, CONTACT).
Three files:
1. /etc/motd — add the window (shown after login).
2. /etc/issue — add the window (shown at the login prompt).
3. /etc/nologin — create it with a message naming the CONTACT (login/sshd refuse non-root logins while it exists).
Grading reads the three files. See /root/case/brief.txt.
What you'll do
- Announce the window in the message of the day
- Announce the window in the pre-login banner
- Block interactive logins during maintenance with /etc/nologin
- Point users at a contact
Hands-on lab: you work on a real Linux box in your browser, graded on the machine's actual state.
