User Input

EasyShell Scripting15-20 min
The brief

Write an interactive greeting script at /root/case/greet.sh. It should prompt the operator for their name, read what they type, and print a personalised greeting that includes that name. Make the script executable and make sure it exits cleanly (status 0). Grading feeds a name on stdin, runs your script, and checks that the greeting echoes the name back.

What you'll do
  • Create an executable script at /root/case/greet.sh
  • Prompt for and read a line of input
  • Print a greeting that includes the entered name

Hands-on lab: you work on a real Linux box in your browser, graded on the machine's actual state.
