Containers: Environment Variables and Persistent Storage
MediumRHCSA Prep10-15 minThe brief
A worker container reads its mode from an environment variable and writes its log under /data. Last time it ran, its data vanished with the container. The brief in /root/case/brief.txt gives the name, the mode and the host directory. Run it so the setting is passed in and its data lands on the host. Lab machines have no internet access, so the image is already in podman's local store, as if you had pulled it.
What you'll do
- Pass environment variables into a container
- Mount a host directory as persistent, writable storage
- Tell a bind mount from a named volume
Hands-on lab: you work on a real Linux box in your browser, graded on the machine's actual state.
