SSH Key Permissions
EasyRHCSA Prep10-15 minThe brief
SSH is refusing to use the key in /root/.ssh because the permissions are too open — OpenSSH ignores keys that others can read. Lock down /root/.ssh to 700 and the private key /root/.ssh/id_rsa to 600.
What you'll do
- Set /root/.ssh to mode 700 (rwx------)
- Set /root/.ssh/id_rsa to mode 600 (rw-------)
Hands-on lab: you work on a real Linux box in your browser, graded on the machine's actual state.
