tuned: Author a Custom Tuning Profile
MediumRHCSA Prep15-25 minThe brief
Ship a custom tuned profile for this host. Your assignment is in /root/case/assignment.env (PROFILE, PARENT_PROFILE, SYSCTL_KEY, SYSCTL_VALUE, CPU_GOVERNOR).
Create /etc/tuned/PROFILE/tuned.conf that inherits a stock parent, pins a sysctl, and forces a CPU governor:
`
[main]
include=PARENT_PROFILE
[sysctl]
SYSCTL_KEY=SYSCTL_VALUE
[cpu]
governor=CPU_GOVERNOR
`
Grading reads the profile file (tuned need not be running). See /root/case/brief.txt.
What you'll do
- Create a custom tuned profile directory + tuned.conf
- Inherit a stock parent profile via include
- Pin a kernel sysctl in the profile
- Force a CPU frequency governor
Hands-on lab: you work on a real Linux box in your browser, graded on the machine's actual state.
