MariaDB: Bind Address, Port, and Connection Limit
MediumNetworking10-20 minThe brief
A fresh MariaDB server listens only on loopback with stock limits. Open it to the app subnet and raise the connection ceiling — all under [mysqld]. Your assignment is in /root/case/assignment.env (BIND_ADDRESS, PORT, MAX_CONNECTIONS).
Edit /etc/mysql/mariadb.conf.d/50-server.cnf under [mysqld]:
`
bind-address = BIND_ADDRESS
port = PORT
max_connections = MAX_CONNECTIONS
`
Grading reads the config file (mysqld need not be running). See /root/case/brief.txt.
What you'll do
- Bind MariaDB to the assigned address
- Set the listening port
- Raise the max_connections ceiling
- Know where MariaDB server settings live
Hands-on lab: you work on a real Linux box in your browser, graded on the machine's actual state.
