ISC DHCP: Declare a Subnet and Lease a Pool
MediumNetworking15-25 minThe brief
Stand up a DHCP scope for a LAN. Your assignment is in /root/case/assignment.env (SUBNET, NETMASK, RANGE_START, RANGE_END, ROUTER, DNS).
Add a subnet block to /etc/dhcp/dhcpd.conf:
`
subnet SUBNET netmask NETMASK {
range RANGE_START RANGE_END;
option routers ROUTER;
option domain-name-servers DNS;
}
`
Grading reads dhcpd.conf (dhcpd need not be running). See /root/case/brief.txt.
What you'll do
- Declare the DHCP subnet with the right netmask
- Hand out addresses from the assigned pool range
- Advertise the default gateway to clients
- Understand the dhcpd.conf subnet block structure
Hands-on lab: you work on a real Linux box in your browser, graded on the machine's actual state.
