Static IP Configuration (netplan)
MediumNetworking15-25 minThe brief
This server currently gets its address from DHCP, but it needs a fixed IP for reliable service discovery. It uses netplan (/etc/netplan/01-netcfg.yaml). Read /root/case/assignment.env for the interface (IFACE), the static address in CIDR form (ADDR_CIDR), and the default gateway (GATEWAY). Convert the interface from DHCP to a static configuration: turn DHCP off and set the address (plus the default route via the gateway). Grading reads the netplan YAML.
What you'll do
- Turn off DHCP on the interface
- Assign the static address (CIDR)
- Set the default gateway
Hands-on lab: you work on a real Linux box in your browser, graded on the machine's actual state.
