One-Line Fix in nano: Flip a Config Flag

EasyText Editors10 min
The brief

nano is the editor you reach for when you just need to change one setting and get out — no modes, no ceremony, the shortcuts are printed right at the bottom of the screen. This app shipped to production with debug logging left on. The config lives at /root/app.conf and contains the line 'debug = true'. Open it in nano, change that value to 'debug = false', and save. Grading checks the file, so any editor works — but this is the lab to get comfortable with nano's write-out (Ctrl+O) and exit (Ctrl+X).

What you'll do
  • Open /root/app.conf in nano
  • Change 'debug = true' to 'debug = false'
  • Save the file (Ctrl+O, Enter) and exit (Ctrl+X)

Hands-on lab: you work on a real Linux box in your browser, graded on the machine's actual state.
