Process Priority

MediumLinux+ Exam Prep20-25 min
The brief

A batch job should never starve interactive work of CPU. Write a launcher at /root/case/lowprio.sh that starts a CPU-intensive task at a reduced scheduling priority (a positive nice value), so the kernel gives it CPU only when nothing more important wants it. The script must be executable and exit cleanly (status 0). Grading traces the run and checks that a task was really launched through nice at a positive niceness.

What you'll do
  • Create an executable script at /root/case/lowprio.sh
  • Launch a task at reduced priority using a positive nice value
  • Exit cleanly

Hands-on lab: you work on a real Linux box in your browser, graded on the machine's actual state.
