Grant Access with POSIX ACLs
MediumLFCS Prep15 minThe brief
Two users need different access to the shared directory /projects, and plain owner/group/other permissions can't express 'alice full, bob read-only' at once. That's what POSIX ACLs are for.
Users alice and bob already exist. Grant, on /projects:
• alice — read, write, execute (rwx)
• bob — read, execute (r-x)
Check your work with getfacl /projects. Grading reads the ACL entries directly.
What you'll do
- Give alice rwx on /projects via ACL
- Give bob r-x on /projects via ACL
Hands-on lab: you work on a real Linux box in your browser, graded on the machine's actual state.
