Dojo: Count the Failed Logins

EasyOne-Liner Dojo5 min
The brief

The auth log /root/auth.log is full of SSH events. In ONE line, count how many failed-password attempts it contains and write just that number to /root/answer.txt.

Any correct answer earns the pass — but the Dojo grades your elegance. The tightest correct one-liner earns ★★★. There's a well-known trap here: counting matches by piping grep into wc -l works, but grep can count by itself. Beat par.

What you'll do
  • Write the count of 'Failed password' events in /root/auth.log to /root/answer.txt, in one line

Hands-on lab: you work on a real Linux box in your browser, graded on the machine's actual state.
