watch: A Live View That Refreshes Itself
EasyCommand Line Guru5-10 minThe brief
A bulk import is filling a disk and you want to SEE it happen, not keep re-typing df. watch re-runs a command on a timer and redraws its output in place.
Leave a live view of df -h running that refreshes at the interval given in /root/brief.txt (it differs per session, and it's never watch's default of 2 seconds), and that highlights whatever changed since the last refresh. Leave it running while you press Validate.
Grading reads the running watch process's own arguments, so any spelling of the flags passes.
What you'll do
- Keep `watch` re-running df -h
- Set the refresh interval from the brief
- Highlight the differences between refreshes
Hands-on lab: you work on a real Linux box in your browser, graded on the machine's actual state.
