Parallel Xargs
MediumCommand Line Guru20-30 minThe brief
A batch of files under /root/case/data/ needs the same processing applied to each, and doing them one at a time is slow. Write a script at /root/case/parallel.sh that feeds the file list through xargs and processes them SEVERAL AT A TIME using xargs's parallelism option. The script must be executable and exit cleanly (status 0). Grading traces the run and checks that xargs really ran with a parallelism of 2 or more.
What you'll do
- Create an executable script at /root/case/parallel.sh
- Process the files under /root/case/data/ with xargs
- Run several workers at once with xargs parallelism
- Exit cleanly
Hands-on lab: you work on a real Linux box in your browser, graded on the machine's actual state.
